Sketch Writing Cheat Sheet

Writing sketches can be tough.

That’s why we made this Sketch Writing Cheat Sheet. It doesn’t write your sketch for you, but if you fill it out it will make it WAY easier.

When authors write a book, they write the outline first. Why should sketch writing be any different?

A few notes:

  • This is mainly for regular sketches, not blackouts or extended black out sketches.
  • You still have to do the work and either improvise to develop the dialogue or write out the beats in fuller detail.
  • If you have any feedback, let us know. We’d love to hear if this actually helped you write sketches easier or if there is any way we can improve it. We want it to be a valuable tool, not just something sitting on your desktop. Please consider emailing us at Jason@sketchpadcomedy.com to let us know.
